The outputs of the XS rack should typically go to a mixer input, along with your soundcard output so that your monitors can play both sound sources. IF you hear it then look at your audio routing. I would simply suggest you plug the mpk 61 keyboard midi out>XS midi in and connect a pair of headphones directly to the rack. forget about maschine, forget about your audio interface and forget about drivers & studio manager. do that first before you try to integrate a whole studio. You have bought a rack and you cannot get a sound out of it. I suggest you stop trying to run before you can walk. What am I doing wrong here Bad_Mister.Īnybody have any extra info on this mess. Why would I need to enable any in’s or out’s when I have no midd cable connected? Obviously I am still a little confused with this. Also there is input and output port choices for all my equipment. In the xs manual the configuration says to enable the “midi thru” setting. One other thing to tell u so u have all the info here is that inside Yamaha Studio Mgr there is midi options. And then pad number 1 lights up on the maschine. I scroll down to “midi out” and choose channel 1. For example when I open Maschine I go to the arragement window and choose src which allows me to choose what pad number one will have on it. I am using the software within Logic for Maschine to make these settings. I hope so because I still can’t get any sound to come from the xs rack.Īs far as midi settings go I have been trying to get things to werk on midi channel 1. Should I run it into the DI inputs? Just doesn’t seem right to me but I might be wrong. So my question is where do I input at? If I input in either aux in or alt mon the rest of the tracks that are not being used by the motif rack all will not be heard when the alt mon or the aux in is engaged. The main monitor l and r are being used for my current monitors which both Logic Studio and Pro Tools both use. Well I have mic/di inputs 1/4 cable or xlr. You have told me to go output l and r from the rack xs to the inputs on my interface. I have set the midi setting inside the rack xs to “usb” as u have told me to. I also ran the usb from the rack xs to my comp as well. I was told I did not need a midi cable with this setup so I am not using one. My Akai MPK 61 is connected via USB as well is the Maschine from NI. Ok so I have installed the latest version of the usb-midi driver along with the SM2 Yamaha studio mgr. My response after trying a bunch of things but still no sound. The computer program (DAW) is where you will route controller signals to tone generators. Use the appropriate Yamaha USB-MIDI driver for your computer type.Ĭonnect your controller to your computer however it connects, and use your DAW to route MIDI INs to MIDI OUTs as you require. We don’t know anything about your particular interface but in general, you want to connect your Motif-Rack XS to your computer using USB. The audio Outputs of your Motif-Rack XS need to be connected to the audio inputs of your audio interface. I mean I see the midi blinking on channel one when I hit the first pad on the maschine but I can’t hear anything. And generally just pretty confused to tell u guys the truth. Now do I need to run the usb from the motif rack to the comp, (mac pro)? Or is it fine to just have the midi out of the maschine go to the midi in on the motif rack? Im just pretty confused as to how to assign different sounds to different midi channels. I did run the output l and r to the alt contol room l and r on the interface but still no sound. First off do I need to run audio? I have my 003 digidesign rack as my audio interface for my monitors. I just bought this rack and am just not sure how to get my midi controller to werk with it. I guess I just have some basic questions. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. It will fill u in with the problem I am having though. Lot here but just copying and pasting info from another conversation from.
